Girls and Zits, Boys and Time-outs!

So I need to get this on the blog before I forget about it. The other day we were driving to Park City and I notice Hallie keeps sitting up high to look at herself in the mirror, I asked her what she was doing and she said, "Well mom, the other day I had a zit right here, Where did it go?" And I told her I never knew she had a zit, but that they just go away after a few days. And she said, "Well I want it back, I liked it, It made me look older." I just laughed under my breath. I thought it was funny but at the same time I got kinda sad cause I dont want her to grow up, I dont want her to try and look older than she is, she already acts about 5 years older that she really is. What am I going to do with her.

Now on with Tracen. He has been being kind of naughty. Doing things that he knows he should not do. Well atleast I think that he knows he shouldnt do them. So he loves buttons, And we have a pretty nice T.V. well he has discovered that there is a button on the bottom of the television and if you push it the T.V. will go on and off. And by doing that it also wears out the bulb, which let me add we replaced last year due to Hallie doing the same thing and it is not a cheap part. So Tracen has figured it out now. Well we get mad at him and tell him No, No and do the whole look in their eyes thing and say no. It wasnt working so I decided it was time for time-outs. Well we just put him in his crib for a time-out and tell him what he did wrong. When you put him in there he laughs and says, "Bye-Bye Momma, Bye." and waves with a big grin on his face. He seriously has no idea that he is in trouble. So my question is for all of you out there, At what age do you start time-outs and do they know that they are in trouble? I really need some help here, because he is not understanding that buttons are a no no. Help!

Well good luck Chels. We have the same problem with Keenan. I can spank his as hard as I want(not that I am abusive but hard enough to get the point across) and he thinks it is so funny. We make him sit in the corner for a minute but after a little bit he laughs and runs out of it. We have issues with disiplin sometimes.

No this is not his first time out. But I havent been doing it very long. Im not quite as mean as you. Ha Ha. But the time-outs are not working, so my question was any other suggestions to help him learn not to push buttons. Sara this message is not for you just for shane.

How old is he ? My kids, this might sound bad :( I have a time out chair and if they don't stay on it I put a belt around their lap and of course the chair so they can't get off. Eventually they figure out that mom means it. They stop fighting it and when they hear the timer they can get out and say sorry. The longer they cry the longer the timer but of course I would only do this if they are around 2 that is when I started the belt thing. When they are younger I hold them on my lap. It gets really old but it works. Don't think I am mean :( My friend gave me the idea, and it worked for my kids. Seth does the same thing especially when Sienna is watching her movies :) Hope you had a good christmas

Hi Chels! Thanks for posting on my blog! I love blogging! You have the most adorable kids and such a cute family. How old is Tracen now? I thought he and Peyton were pretty close.

Oh, and on the time-out thing, I actually had a pediatrition appointment today (15 months) and he said we HAVE to do timeout. He based it on how advanced Peyton was and aparently he's pretty advanced for his age. So the pediatrition said if we don't lay down the law we'll get run over fast. Josh and I have been doing time out since Peyton was like 6 months. At first he didn't understand it but oh, he does now and it works pretty well
